That's when you know.
There is a place where he can participate, where he can be a leader. A place where she can be a part of a caring community and pursue her passions and dreams. A place where he can have a role, where he can be the captain. A place where everyone can have a job and friends and stories to tell.
A place to find out what it means to be yourself. A place called Pathfinder Village.
Every family involved with Pathfinder Village has their own story, too. We’re inviting you to share your story with us.
There is a place.
Pathfinder Village is a caring residential community where residents can make the decisions and build the relationships that deliver a happy, fulfilling life. A caring residential community, Pathfinder provides a level of independence and freedom that fosters achievement and self expression. It is truly a special place where individuals write their own story.
Featuring a beautiful colonial-style village with an 180-acre community, Pathfinder Village is nestled in the quaint country village of Edmeston, NY, just outside Cooperstown, NY home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The village provides a dynamic environment for residential living that includes an on-site school, chapel, meeting house, village inn, bakery, greenhouse, artists’ workshop, and sports and recreation center, among others. It has often been stated by families, visitors and friends that you have to see Pathfinder Village firsthand to truly understand the peacefulness and beauty of our pastoral setting.
Pathfinder Village is home to 80 children and adults ranging in age from 9 to 63. Historically, Pathfinder Village was the only residential community in the world solely devoted to assisting those who have Down syndrome. Pathfinder continues to specialize in assisting individuals with Down syndrome but also assists others with developmental disabilities.
